My reply to the question “who leads the war racket?”
There are no leaders. The War Business is a permanent competition between countries with a war industry. I give you one example, but you can use it to all conflicts in the world. During the very violent years of the civil war in Nepal, Bishnu Pathak, founder and Director of the Nepal Conflict and Peace Study Centre and author of the Foreword of one of my books, wrote to me expressing his disappointment at the lack of reply from the American Ambassador to his letter asking the diplomat to act to stop the violence in Nepal.
Bishnu innocently believed that if the Ambassador stopped the export of American weapons to his beloved Nepal, the war will stop. I had to explain to my friend that the Ambassador’s professional duty was to ensure – for which he had the assistance of his Military and Trade attaches and secret agents – that British, French, Belgian, Chinese, Russian, Indian, Canadian, Israeli, German and other weapons did not enter the Nepalese market, thus affecting the American economy.
Sudan for instance, is very good for the Chinese economy. Since approximately 1990, China is the main seller of weapons, missiles, explosives and military vehicles to Sudan. The Chinese also train the Sudanese how to better fight and kill and helps them develop their own war industry.
The Sri Lanka civil war was conducted from the UK, using the mercenary company Keenie Minnie, who also worked on behalf of the British government in operations in Uganda and Nicaragua. Many countries use private contractors when they can’t, for diplomatic reasons, be seen involved in a conflict.
Probably the most famous in the world, is the French Foreign Legion, created in 1831 by King Louis-Philippe the 1st, to fight in Algeria.
As Franklin Delano Roosevelt said it, “no war happens by accident. If fighting starts it means the fighting parties agreed to the game of war”. In this game of Death and Destruction, the country who acts first accepts to be called the ‘attacker’ or ‘invader’, and the country that acts second, doing the same, killing and destrother does the same but it is called the ‘defender.’
And of course, business Laws dictate that the conflict lasts as long as possible. Wars are the best way of advertising your killing toys. At the moment, the Iranian government is over the moon with the new export contracts they’re gaining thanks to the war game negotiated with America and Israel.
This is what the real mission of the UN General “Secretary”. He ensures his paymasters are happy, playing games of war when business requires it.
