Howard Zinn is dead right; definitely every single person of the nearly one quarter of a million killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was killed unnecessarily. But also unnecessarily killed were the other 67 million people. The 37 million who died in WWI were also killed unnecessarily. So were all the dead in Vietnam, Korea, Israel, Palestine, Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, Russia, Ukraine, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, and all corners of the world were there are wars, civil wars, wars between countries, revolutions, genocides, etc. etc.
All these deaths of millions of men, women and children are unnecessary, but we have a Death and Destruction industry people believe it gives them ”security and protection”, words never used by military manufacturers. They only talk about the lethal and destructive power of their bombs, missiles, attack vehicles, destroyers ships, etc.
Whilst humanity continues to be so ignorant, passive, gullible and accept the immorality of war and the immorality of the war industry, they encourage and allow politicians to continue to kill unnecessarily, and fatten their Bank accounts in the process.
