Alicia Cabezudo sent me an article about the veteran Brazilian politician and diplomat Celso Amorim, where he claims that Peace and Development go together, are indissoluble.

At 84 years old, Celso Amorim is still as hypocritical as his younger colleagues, criticizing military spending when he himself, both as Minister of Foreign Affairs and even more so as Minister of Defense, promoted it with great passion.

He says that Peace and Development are inseparable, but he doesn’t mention that Brazil is the South American country that “most promotes” military development in Latin America.

Amorim is the politician/diplomat who developed LAAD the most — the Brazilian International Defense and Security Fair — which is the largest and most important defense and security fair in Latin America.

It has the institutional support of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Justice, and Brazil’s Public Security structure.

On April 13, 14, and 15 of 2027, all the manufacturers, sellers, and buyers of death and destruction in the world will be gathered there to “develop” more wars, more suffering, more refugees, more poverty, and hunger.

In short: Celso Amorim criticizes military spending, but he is the very one who promotes it.
